MacOS X - Friday 12/01/01
I've had a good look at the latest stuff up at Apple's MacOS X page, and I must say I'm extremely impressed. Steve Jobs said in his MWSF keynote that they've sold over 100,000 copies of the MacOS X Public, and gotten over 75,000 pieces of feedback, many of them quite long and detailed. Looking over the new things at the OSX page, its easy to see that Apple has actually listened to all that feedback.

All my complaints with the Public Beta are gone: the Dock now has hierarchical folder access (drop a folder in the Dock, click on it, and you can see all its contents, including subfolders: this is even better than the popup folders we have in the current MacOS!), that stupid Apple logo in the middle of the menubar is now back on the left and is a fully-fledged Apple menu again (and it contains universal commands, like Sleep, Restart, Shutdown, Logout, and so forth, meaning you don't have to go back to the Finder to do it) and the toolbars in the Finder are smaller and customisable.

All in all, MacOS X is one awesome piece of software. It'll make other operating systems look even more crappy than they do now! *cough*Windows*cough*. Its being released on March 24, and I can't WAIT to get my hot little hands on it!! :D
